Conflict is a normal part of life. It can be transformed to produce change and growth. It can serve as a channel through which God’s spirit can speak to us.
But conflict can also hurt and destroy. Our responses to conflict help determine its constructive or destructive course. The choice is ours…
The Anabaptist Peacemaking Service (APS) is committed to seeing conflict transformed into something positive. Our vision springs from our Christian faith and the call to peacemaking and reconciliation.
Our peacemaking services are available to:
- INDIVIDUALS
- FAMILIES
- CHURCHES
- COMMUNITY GROUPS
- SCHOOLS
Services include:
- Trained mediators for interpersonal or group disputes
- Skilled facilitators for group planning, evaluation, and decision-making meetings
- Workshops and seminars to equip people to deal more creatively with conflict or to learn mediation skills
- Speakers for churches on the Biblical and theological basis of peacemaking
- Educational resources, training materials and audiovisuals
- Consulting:
- Informal—a listening ear and ideas for individuals and groups working at problem solving
- Formal—a more intense process for groups or congregations in conflict, which often includes these stages: contracting with the group, data gathering, identifying the issues, conflict resolution (which may include education, mediation, facilitation, problem-solving, and closure), and follow-up
