“First Saturday” Gatherings

“Let us be concerned for one another, to help one another to show love and to do good. Let us not give up the habit of meeting together, as some are doing. Instead, let us encourage one another all the more, since you see that the Day of the Lord is coming nearer.”

-Hebrews 10: 24 - 25, Good News Bible

First Saturdays are a monthly gathering via Zoom on the first Saturday of each month, with the goals of connecting and encouraging AAANZ members and friends around Australia and Aotearoa/New Zealand.

The Zoom opens at 3.30pm (Sydney time) for informal sharing.

The hour between 4pm and 5pm is usually recorded, and includes a short meditation, and some discussion around a specific topic.

After 5pm, there's time for those who want to stay a little longer to hear from and pray for people around the AAANZ network.

Email info@anabaptist.au to request the Zoom link to the meeting, or check your email if you're on our mailing list (First Saturday info will be in the "Events & Actions" mailing).

First Saturdays in 2024:

NEXT DATE: Saturday, June 1, 3:30pm AEST - 5pm, on Zoom

TOPIC: Book Study: "Anabaptist Essentials", chapters 1 - 3

ABOUT THIS TOPIC: Jesus. Community. Reconciliation. These sum up the core values of Anabaptist faith and life, writes pastor Palmer Becker in this concise resource. In Anabaptist Essentials, Becker introduces readers to the key convictions and practices of Anabaptism. From the believers within a sixteenth-century movement to those today who try to follow Jesus, create community, and practice peace, Anabaptists have a rich witness to offer the wider world. Designed for study by small groups and for use as a resource for Christian formation and conversation.

DISCUSSION FACILITATOR: Errol Thompson

ABOUT ERROL: A long-term follower of Christ who is still struggling to learn the implications of what that means but has found the Anabaptist approach the most encouraging. Having been part of the UK Anabaptist scene for a number of years, he has returned to New Zealand to live out his faith according to how he understands the Anabaptist vision.

If you're on our mailing list, you can find the Zoom link in your emails. Sign up for AAANZ mailings here.

On The Road Conference 2017

AAANZConf17Promo

We live in a world of disconnection.

Everywhere we look our communities are broken, or breaking down. Enmity, abuse, loneliness and violence seem to be the norm across the planet. For many, the greatest connection they feel is online via social media or gaming. We have largely forgotten how to be together.

The Anabaptist movement has always had a “family feel” to it, where members experience fellowship, helpful guidance, and clear accountability in communities of like-minded disciples. Our theology challenges us to move from committee to community. It calls us to invite people into Christ-centred communities that are daily seeking to follow the way of Jesus.

Come join us in a weekend conference where we explore what “Christ-centred” community looks like.  We will be hear from representatives of several intentional Christian communities from around Australia and New Zealand – including the Bruderhof, Wellspring, and Urban Vision communities - and spend time in worship and hopefully enjoy just hanging out together.  Saturday evening will feature a special concert from Anthony Brown, a world-renowned singer and peace ambassador from the USA.
